The Volkswagen Beetle. Also KnownKnown as the VW Type 1. Made from 1938 to 2003 By Volkswagen, Not only Made in Germany but also in plenty of other countries such as Mexico, Brazil and South Africa. Over 20 Million VW Bugs have been produced quite an amazing amount.
The VW Beetle was very unique with a Rear air cooled engine. It Came fiited with 1200,1300,1500 and 1600cc Engines. From the 1970s onwards when the beetle was becoming extremely popular the motors have been bored out to 1641cc,1776cc,1879cc still utilising the original crankshaft and just changing the Barrels and Pistons and Cylinder heads for larger ones..
During the Late 1950s until 1979 There was a Beetle cabriolet produced with coaching by Karmann. These soft top where really the best of the best and proved very fasionable in the United States. Over the years there have been plenty of upgrades and face lifts to the Beetle. The First model had a split oval rear window which was swapped in the late fifties to a small Oval rear window. Then from Sixties onwards came the beetle that is recognised world over. In 1967 The Beetle and Camper variants where all swapped to 12 volt models as all the earlier ones where 6 volt.
In the early 1970s along came the 1302/1302 model beetles. Theses 1302/3 models where fitted with McPherson struts on the front where as earlier models all had a Front axle beam. The 1303 model also came with a big curved front windscreen where as all other versions had a smaller flat one.
Now in the 2010's The VW Beetle is still as popular as ever. With all models been sort after and returned back to there former glory. the Pre 1967s Models are still the most highly prized models. The Cabriolet's now are quite rare with many long since snapped up my enthusiasts and collectors and kept in Garages and just drivent out for the Occasional VW Show.
